Team Jumbo-Visma has not made it onto the podium in the third stage of the Simac Ladies Tour. Anna Henderson was alert but had to brake after a manoeuvre by another sprinter. Charlotte Kool eventually crossed the line first.
Stage three of the Dutch race took the riders into the Flevoland polders. Shortly after the start in Emmeloord, a lead group of three riders formed. This trio built up a lead of over six minutes. However, the peloton increased the pace as the finish approached and caught the leaders with ten kilometres to go. In the bunch sprint, Henderson came close, but the 24-year-old could not finish.
Maud Oudeman explained the tactics the Jumbo-Visma riders used on Friday. "The plan was to ride as a team. It worked well. This weekend, we have two challenging stages. With Riejanne (Markus) and Anna, we are in a good position in the standings. We'll try to ride as a team again in the coming days to get a good position in the final standings.”
"I like my first year a lot"
"I like my first year a lot”, said the Dutch rider about her first season with Team Jumbo-Visma. "I feel welcome, and I am learning a lot from the riders and staff. I enjoy racing, and it is special to be part of this team. It is beyond my expectations.”
Tomorrow, the peloton heads to the hills of Limburg, with Valkenburg as the start and finish location.
