The Giro d'Italia Donne started on Friday 30 June with a completely rain-soaked prologue in Tuscany and ended ten days later with a sprint stage in a sweltering Sardinia. Let's have a look back.
In the third stage of the Giro Donne, Marianne Vos sprinted to second place. In the fourth stage, Vos and teammate Fem van Empel – who rode a multi-day race for the first time – both finished in the top ten.
The fifth and sixth stages of the Italian race were characterized by tough climbs. Van Empel finished ninth on both days. After a rest and travel day, the last two stages were held in Sardinia. In the last stage, Vos just missed out on the win and crossed the line in second place.
