Last Sunday Per Strand Hagenes grabbed his first professional victory by winning the Tour of Drenthe. The day before, the women's peloton also braved the Drenthe VAM mountain. Karlijn Swinkels and Anna Henderson both finished in the top ten. Check out the photo album of our Ronde van Drenthe weekend below.
Because of wintery weather the course was adjusted and shortened, but at 2 p.m. the women could start after all.
The race was hectic and had a crash in which Team Jumbo-Visma riders were also involved. Swinkels finished eighth, the best result for the team.
Also on Sunday, the winter weather had the Ronde van Drenthe in its grip. The organization therefore decided to shorten the race.
Nineteen-year-old Hagenes is still riding as a development rider for Team Jumbo-Visma, but that didn't stop him from taking the win in the pro peloton. "It feels great to be able to win at this level," he said afterwards.
