Johannes Staune-Mittet has won the Ronde de L'Isard. The young Norwegian of the Jumbo-Visma Development Team maintained his lead in the final stage. With the overall victory, Staune-Mittet put the crown on a strong week for the Dutch development squad.
"It was amazing; a real team performance”, Staune-Mittet said. "This was an important race for our team. Finishing it like this is incredible. The boys worked tremendously hard. I am thrilled that I was able to finish it off."
It is the Norwegian's maiden stage race overall triumph. "Amazing. With three stage victories, including the team time trial, we had a fantastic week. I almost feel sorry the race is over now”, the yellow jersey winner said.
"With three stage victories, including the team time trial, we had a fantastic week."
The team's performance this week pleased sports director Sierk Jan de Haan. "We rode incredibly well. Yesterday Tijmen rode a lot for the classification riders. Today Darren fulfilled that role wonderfully. It demonstrates we were working on team performance."
Three victories out of six stages were enough for the Jumbo-Visma Development Team to take first place in the overall classification. "I think that says enough”, De Haan said. "We made progress during the race and learned how to tackle things. For these young cyclists, it has been a pleasant process. They are quick learners. They immediately turned it into a success. Fantastic."
Archie Ryan finished eighth overall. For Staune-Mittet, it is his third win of the year and the tenth for the Jumbo-Visma Development Team.
