Sven Kramer remains with Team Jumbo-Visma

Sven Kramer will join Team Jumbo-Visma as Director of Business Development with immediate effect. The multiple Olympic champion is taking his first step in his social career with the team for which he set records on the ice for many years.

In his new role within the board of directors of the combined speed skating and cycling team, the 36-year-old Dutchman will focus on the management and business support of the speed skating team. Kramer will also use his network for the organisation's further commercial growth.

"I see this new step as a great adventure, just as I once started my top sports career", Sven Kramer said. "Over the past few months, aside from some rest, I have had many conversations about this new role. It is an educational journey of discovery with each other in a different setting than before. We have taken the time to ensure that everyone can utilise their qualities and will continue to take the time to do so; we must continue to bring out the very best in each other. Ultimately, we need to establish the right conditions so our athletes can perform at their peak. I'm very excited about it. I anticipate learning a lot in this new role in the coming period and will do my best to contribute to the team in another way."

CEO Richard Plugge is pleased that Sven Kramer remains connected to the team: "We want to help top athletes develop after their careers. As a speed skater, Sven has always been an ambassador for the sport and our team. After a top sport career, it is quite a search to find the right occupation; what do you want, what can you do, what makes your heart beat faster? It is great that we are embarking on this journey of discovery together. With his network, mentality and experience in top sport, Sven can make a valuable contribution to the further growth of our team."

Kramer's responsibilities will also include managing and supporting the speed skating team's business, much to Jac Orie's delight. "We have worked closely together for many years to achieve the best sporting performances. We are entering a new phase together, where the basis remains the same: bringing out the best in each other. Sven is a person who always strives for the very best. I think he can, therefore, also be of great value within the entire organisation - and the skating team in particular - in this new role."
