Kramer to miss Daikin Dutch Allround Championships due to flu

Sven Kramer will miss the Daikin Dutch Allround Championships. The 6-time national champion has flu-like symptoms, which forces him to withdraw from the tournament.

Kramer, who tested negative for COVID-19 twice in the last couple of days, has had flu-like symptoms since Tuesday night. After talking to coach Jac Orie and the medical team of Team Jumbo-Visma, they decided to skip the Dutch Allround Championships, which takes place at Thialf, Heerenveen on Saturday November 21st and Sunday November 22nd.

"Of course, this is a huge disappointment", Kramer said. "Due to COVID-19, we don't have many races on the speed skating calendar this year, so of course, I wish I would have been able to skate this upcoming weekend. However, I am not going to do that at all costs. It must be responsible."

Patrick Roest, Marcel Bosker, Chris Huizinga, Kars Jansman, Antoinette de Jong, Carlijn Achtereekte and Joy Beune will represent Team Jumbo-Visma at the Dutch Allround Championships this weekend. Robin Groot and Jordy van Workum, who are part of the development team, will be participating as well.
